Supply Shed is a small business that sells boat paints and supplies through their website. We were asked to redevelop their website from a plain html website using Mal’s Cart to a themed WordPress website using Woocommerce for the ecommerce. Their existing website was old, non responsive and difficult to manage. The navigation was confusing for users, and the business was unable to edit products without adjusting the website code. Despite this the website had a good level of traffic and a great standing in Google.

We chose a simple Woocommerce template that would allow the business to easily add, update and change their products. It was equally important to keep the look and feel of the website simple for the kind of customers they have. We uploaded all of their products, and helped to make sure that they were easily navigated from the main and sub menus. We lifted content from the old website, but also tweaked it to make sure that it was more SEO compliant. We took all the images from the old website and made them more uniform to make the website more professional.

The most important part of this project was maintaining the existing traffic from Google, while updating the website to make it work better. We improved the link structure on the website, but also created redirects from all the old links on the old website to the new one. This meant that we could maintain the traffic and give Google the time to change the link in the searches to the new one.
